The 2027 UEFA Super Cup

The UEFA Super Cup is contested each year between the winners of the Champions League and the winners of the Europa League, and it traditionally opens the European football season. The 2027 edition will be the 52nd.

Very little about it is settled. UEFA has confirmed neither a date nor a host venue, and both competing clubs are decided by finals that have not yet been played. This page records what is genuinely known and will be updated the moment that changes - it does not offer packages that do not exist.

What is actually confirmed

The format

A single match between the Champions League holders and the Europa League holders. No second leg. This has been the format since 2000.

The date. The Super Cup is traditionally played in mid-August, and the 2026 edition was on 12 August, so August 2027 is the expectation. UEFA has not published it.

The venue. UEFA rotates the fixture around its member associations - Salzburg in 2026, Udine in 2025 - and usually confirms the host well in advance. No 2027 host has been named.

The teams, which cannot be known until the two European finals are played in May and June 2027.

UEFA has not confirmed a date for the 2027 UEFA Super Cup. The match is traditionally played in mid-August, in the window between the end of one European season and the start of the domestic leagues - the 2026 edition was on 12 August - so a date in August 2027 is the reasonable expectation. It is an expectation rather than a confirmation, and we will update this page as soon as UEFA publishes the fixture.

The venue has not been announced. UEFA rotates the Super Cup around its member associations and typically confirms the host stadium well in advance, but no announcement has been made for 2027. The 2026 edition was held at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, the first time Austria had staged it. We will publish the venue here as soon as UEFA confirms it.

The winners of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League against the winners of the 2026/27 UEFA Europa League. Neither is known yet. The Champions League final is at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid on Saturday 5 June 2027, and the Europa League final precedes it in May 2027, so both teams will be confirmed by early June 2027.
