The season opener

The FA Community Shield is the traditional curtain-raiser to the English football season - Premier League champions versus FA Cup winners. In 2026 it pits Arsenal against Manchester City at a unique venue. Wembley Stadium is unavailable due to The Weeknd's After Hours til Dawn Tour, so the match moves to Principality Stadium in Cardiff - the venue that hosted six Community Shields between 2001 and 2006, and a fitting stage for one of football's great rivalries.

This match has been played. Community Shield hospitality is closed - the links below cover the 2026/27 Premier League season, which begins on 21 August 2026.

Principality Stadium, Cardiff

Principality Stadium sits in the heart of Cardiff city centre and is one of the most versatile major venues in the UK. With a retractable roof, a capacity of over 74,000, and a five-star UEFA rating, it is a world-class setting for a showpiece occasion. Cardiff is easily accessible from London by train - approximately two hours - and from major UK airports including Bristol and Cardiff International.

This is the first Community Shield in Cardiff since 2006. The stadium hosted the fixture six times between 2001 and 2006 while Wembley was rebuilt, and Arsenal won two of those Cardiff finals.

FA Community Shield 2026 hospitality FAQs

The 2026 FA Community Shield is on Sunday 16 August 2026, kicking off at 3pm BST. It is the traditional curtain-raiser to the English football season, played the weekend before the Premier League begins on 21 August.

The 2026 FA Community Shield is at Principality Stadium in Cardiff - a 74,500-capacity venue with a retractable roof in the heart of the city centre. It is the first Community Shield staged in Cardiff since 2006, when the Millennium Stadium (as it was then known) hosted the fixture while Wembley was being rebuilt.

Wembley Stadium is unavailable on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August 2026 because of pre-planned concerts - The Weeknd's After Hours til Dawn Tour. With the national stadium committed, the FA moved the fixture to Principality Stadium in Cardiff, which hosted six Community Shields between 2001 and 2006.

Arsenal play Manchester City. Arsenal qualify as 2025/26 Premier League champions - their first league title in 22 years - and Manchester City as 2025/26 FA Cup winners. The Community Shield is contested each year between the reigning league champions and the FA Cup holders.

DN Global is sourcing premium hospitality for the 2026 FA Community Shield, typically combining a premium seat with pre-match dining, lounge access and hosting. Because the fixture is close and this is a one-off showpiece, availability is genuinely limited and changes quickly. We are not an official FA partner - packages are sourced through authorised channels. Enquire for current availability and pricing.

Cardiff Central is approximately two hours from London Paddington by direct train, and the stadium is a short walk from the station in the city centre. Bristol Airport and Cardiff International Airport also serve the city. Because the stadium sits centrally, most Cardiff hotels, restaurants and bars are within walking distance - which makes it straightforward for groups travelling in for the day.
